FROM THE CITY:
"Mayor Lee P. Brown announced today that he is changing the City emblem from an train, to a condom, because it more clearly reflects his administration's political stance. A condom stands up to inflation, halts production, discourages co-operation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives one a sense of security while screwing others'."

The precedent for City of Houston personnel under investigation by the District Attorney's office is suspension. Hilda Garza Scott is no different than anyone else! Suspend her with pay until a determination is made regarding her innocence or guilt. We trust that you will keep a close eye on this to make sure that no shenanigans occur

Darlin....Wes Johnson says her case is different!...(and Housnitch got this tidbit from a well establiashed reporter NOT from Wes Johnson....he NEVER returned one of our 9 calls in three days!...Public Information Officer indeed...nothing Public or informational about this man!)....Yea Rite.....There were 6 people being investigated by the DA...all 6 of them were suspended, with pay, 4 were indicted by the Grand Jury....the other 2 we were told have been given the option to resign or face termination....then their lawyers came in & Jerry King is supposed to make a decision...we haven't heard what it is yet.....We too think Hilda needs to go...CHRISTMAS or not....we have other Stooges to fry....but we'll keep it up until they do finally get her out of 611 Walker....maybe Housnitch will sign up to speak at Council next Tuesday....Get an official answer from the Mayor on tape.

Housnitch,

Thanks for your message. I emailed the AG opinion to about 40 Houston activists and elected officials.

I enjoy your outstanding investigative journalism. Would you permit the Houston Review (www.houstonreview.com) to reprint your articles, with proper attribution (your name, website, any other info you want) of course? You can check out our website at www.houstonreview.com

We will put a link on our website but I am also interested in reprinting for our printed issues. We publish 6,000 printed issues which are distributed freely all over Houston, including on our rack in City Hall, and to our subscribers.

If you are amenable to us reprinting your articles, please let me know and just email those we can reprint to me. Thanks for all your efforts in pursuit of ethics in government.

Do you know who to report a possible violation
of the city building code. There are some very expensive townhomes going up in the 100 block of Asbury, (Memorial &Shepard) called Asbury Park
Townhomes. They do not appear to have hurricane strapping as required by code nor is there multiple sheets of fireproof sheetrock between the units
as required. Some of it is just multiple sheets of standard sheetrock.
People who buy these places have a right to expect that they were built to code. Who should I contact?

The traditional person to report these violations to is the Building Inspector....but under this Mayor the developers are king...so it probably won't do any good...But we will ask our council members to look into this....and do a little snooping ourselves....

A little historical information here...from a friend of HOUSNITCH:

Game in PWD is as old a civilization: the first true profession was the general contractor, the second was a building inspector, and the third .... that used to be the oldest.......  The first legal code (Hammurabi) was a building code. And therein, any GC whose building fell down was executed.....

(Too bad we've become civilized!)

 Dear Councilmember,
In a feeble attempt to keep information in...(instead of fixing any problems they have)....the powers that be at 611 Walker have installed the card swipe system over there. This is all well & good...except the workers are "locked" onto their own floors...no one can move from one floor to another. Makes it hard for people who actually have to produce a work product. Aside from feeling that they are being kept in a chicken coop (and providing me with more disgruntled employees who are sending me more information)...there is no card system installed in the stairwells. You may enter the stairwell, but you cannot leave. As this building has a fire alarm to go off at least twice a month over there...these people would die in case of a fire.
And I don't buy the explanation that it is "routine" security measures.....I have signed in at that builing so many times under the name Sarah Fitspatrick that it isn't funny....if I enter through the tunnel entrance ..i don't have to sign at all sometimes.
As for keeping information in.....ROFLMAO...(for those who are not savvy to internet lingo that means...I'm Rolling On the Floor Laughing My Ass Off)....I have snitches all the way to the 25th floor..... and enough of them have their own internet accts & send the information from there.
ONE of you, please...in the interest of safety...do something about this. YOU have city employees who are in danger over there.

 I'll be watching....
 Sincerely,
 Brenda Flynn Flores

 P.S.
To you Councilmembers who found your "cajones " & challenged the Mayor by walking out of the council session today on the parking contract ...BRAVO!!!!!WELL DONE...to the rest of you....I'm glad to see you will be replaced soon.

WE TOLD YOU IT WASN'T "ROUTINE" SECURITY MEASURES...WE ALSO TOLD YOU HOW LAX SECURITY IS AT THE ENTRANCES...LOOK AT OUR READER'S MAIL TO US....

What security? Today at lunch I walked to 611 Walker to pick up a publication. Once inside, I walked around the metal detector and past the sign-in security desk. All the while a big man in a suit standing by the elevators seemed to be
looking at me (but he said nothing).

Went all the way up to the 6th floor and back without a hitch.

Maybe I don't fit the profile.

Exactly...you aren't an employee!!!!

So in case of emergency those that are locked on their floors are screwed.
Isn't that against city ordinance?

City Ordinances don't apply to the City itself! Haven't we taught you anything????

Damn. Then there's no way to get out of the stairwell to the main part to try to break the glass and jump? Geez.

Housnitch ...start signing in as :'

Jim Naseum
Rick Kliner
Ben Dover
Chuck Roast

These are the ones I use in getting into City Hall.....never challenged once....have carried big boxes (really big) into all areas...never challenged, sometimes the guards ? helped. If you look like you know what you're doing they assume you do.

ROFLMAO!...We tried it.....this reader is right....we could have been terrorists, with something in our boxes....but we weren't challenged....ONLY THE CITY EMPLOYEES WERE....And WHO may we ask was the HPD officer sitting in the hall of the 14th floor securing?....protecting?...watching?....he didn't stop us. (oh yea....I. P. Freely was us too!)

IF these measures are truly for security ....WHY/HOW  last Thursday was there a theft of $1000.00 from the credit union on the 5th floor?

HELLO MS. FLORES

HOW ARE YOU? I JUST WANT TO MAKE A COMMENT THE ENTRY THAT WAS MADE, TITLED THE "BIG SCREW COMING". WHEN I READ THE ENTRY IT DIDN'T SURPRISE ME. STUFF LIKE THAT CAN HAPPEN. I AM TAKING A FEW REALESTATE CLASSES AND MY INSTRUCTOR WHO IS AN INVESTOR ON REALESTATE, TOLD US ABOUT SOMETHING SIMILAR. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS THE "DE-ANNEXATION" PART. I DON'T KNOW HOW BIG OF AN INVESTOR HE IS, BUT HE DID SAY THAT MOST OF ALL THESE BIG REALESTATE DEALS ARE DONE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS WITH THE CITY OFFICIALS. THESE DEVELOPERS THAT WERE TALKED ABOUT IN THE "BIG SCREW COMING", MIGHT HAVE REAL GOOD BACK GROUNDS BUT I WOULDN'T TRUST THEM FOR NOTHING.

THE BUSINESS IN REALESTATE IS SO CORRUPT THAT I AM RECONSIDERING TO GO INTO
BUSINESS. IT'S LIKE I AM GOING TO SCHOOL TO LEARN HOW TO BE CORRUPT IN THE BUSINESS.

WELL ENOUGH OF THAT GOT TO GO.
GOD BLESS YOU AND TAKE CARE.
P.S. YOU NEED TO CALL THE FIRE MARSHALL OR O.S.H.A. TO GO OUT THERE AND INSPECT THIS NEW CARD READING SYSTEM. IF IT IS DANGEROUS AND IF THEY SEE THAT NO ONE CAN GET OUT IN CASE OF A FIRE, THEY WILL HAVE TO TAKE THAT SHIT OUT IN A HEART BEAT.

Real Estate developing seems to be the way to go with this administration anyway....hell ANY business seems to do good if it donates enough money to the Mayor's campaign...as to OSHA & the Fire Marshall...the Fire Marshall is a city official....he won't do anything....OSHA?...well anybody out there know how to contact them?

Brenda, just so that you will know, the stairwell of an office building is the safest place in the event of a fire. The stairwell is separated from the rest of the building by a minimum of a two-hour firewall, the doors are fire rated for either 90 minutes or two hours, and there are no combustible materials in the stairwell. The one point of concern is that there must, by ordinance, be a re-entry every fifth floor. If this does not exist at 611 it should be reported to the HFD inspectors, and publicly to the Chronicle and Press.

Subj: Re: Security @ 611 Walker

Darlin...the stairs dead end on second floor ...where there are no handles on doors on inside of stairwell.....THERE ARE NO ENTRANCES AT ALL from stairwell...2 hours or not....it's a slow death...and I'm not sure...given the age of the building that the safety wall is there...so much gutting was done removing asbestos that air quality test on several floors still don't pass accepted levels. Many workers have been transferred out of there for up to six & seven months at a time...some can't return at all. You cannot receive an occupancy permit if a building doesn't have HOT water...this building doesn't have HOT water at all...drinking water is bottled...fountain water has an odor & bad taste to it. Only SELECTED employees are allowed access to other floors.....LMAO--report to HFD----on a CITY Building???? Did you forget who we're talking about?---
Housnitch

HOUSNITCH needs $500 for incorporation papers......we also need another $2000.00 for a legal fund.....WE have no intention of just telling you what's going on.....we intend to use legal recourse if we can raise the funds.....unfortunately donations right now are not deductible....but after incorporation they will be.....YOUR money will be spent WISELY....and you will see the results...not only here but in more traditional news outlets also.....Please help us become even more effective..... Housnitch @ P.O. Box 55423, Houston, TX 77255

We know our readers aren't wealthy....but every little bit helps......Thanks guys.....
