TO PROTECT & SERVE

That is the job of our police department. SIX WEEKS AGO OUR WEBSITE,  REPORTED THAT THE MAYOR'S SECURITY TEAM HAD BEEN ASKED TO GIVE UP THEIR OVERTIME PAY WHILE ON THE TRIP TO AFRICA. LAST WEEK, THANKS TO THE REPORTING OF MATT SCHWARTZ WITH THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE, WE ALSO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN MADE TO PAY BACK SOME OF THE MONEY THEY WERE GIVEN FOR EXPENSES. AND PAID MANY EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH TAKING THIS TRIP OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET.

TO MAKE THEM LEAVE THEIR FAMILIES AT THANKSGIVING IS BAD ENOUGH.  BUT TO HAVE THEM PAY THE EXPENSE OF PROTECTING YOU ON YOUR FOLLY IS A DISGRACE.

YOUR INACTION ON THIS MATTER SPEAKS VOLUMES. FOR SOMEONE WHO ONCE WORE THE SAME UNIFORM THEY DO. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN HOW HARD IT IS TO LIVE ON A POLICEMAN'S PAY?

YOU RAISED MORE THAN $3 MILLION LAST YEAR FOR YOUR CAMPAIGN TREASURY. FOR YOU NOT TO PAY FOR THESE PEOPLE'S EXPENSES, AND TAKE THEM AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES AT A TIME OF THE YEAR WHEN ALL FAMILIES SEEK TO BE TOGETHER, MAKES YOU A THIEF. YOU STOLE THEIR TIME FROM THEIR FAMILIES, AND STOLE MONEY OUT OF THEIR POCKETS IN THE PROCESS.

AS YOU SIT BY AND DO NOTHING IN THIS MATTER, I AM REMINDED OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING'S QUOTE "SILENCE IS THE SAME AS BETRAYAL".

GET OFF YOUR THRONE, PICK UP THE PHONE, CALL JACK LINVILLE, OR GROVER JACKSON, OR SUE WALDEN, OR WHOEVER IS AUTHORIZED TO SIGN CHECKS ON YOUR CAMPAIGN ACCOUNT, AND PAY YOUR SECURITY TEAM, INCLUDING THE OVERTIME THAT IS DUE THEM. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE LEADER OF THIS CITY----LEAD! TO DO ANYTHING LESS MAKES YOU A THIEF.

On to senseless loss & waste of our tax dollars ... click on the links below to see this week's garbage out of the City of Houston.
